“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” - Hebrews 13:8
In Advent, we’re reminded that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8). That truth gives us a foundation for peace in a world that often feels unstable. The Christ who came in humility, who walks with us now, and who will return in glory is one and the same. His character doesn’t shift with the seasons, and His promises don’t weaken with time.
Through His death and resurrection, Jesus made peace with God possible for all. This “peace yesterday” is the solid beginning of every other peace we long for.
Christ continues giving us peace today. St. Paul teaches that peace is a fruit of the Spirit. While circumstances may stay difficult, the Spirit cultivates a deep and steady peace in the hearts of those who stay connected to Him.
Yet, that peace we know now is only a glimpse of what will one day fill the whole world. His second coming will bring the restoration of creation and the completion of the peace He promised.
So this Advent, the Church remembers a Savior who has not changed, even when everything around us does. His peace given at the cross, His peace growing in us by the Spirit, and His peace promised at His return.
