A Community Experienced

What a joy it has been to come into the community of the Global South Fellowship of Anglicans, both the Mission Partnerships and the broader GSFA community. I am blessed  as we gather regularly for prayer and we receive the GSFA Chairman’s Quarterly Newsletter. As leadership is shared and prayer requests are offered between gatherings we hear the needs and the regular ministries of each other, across dioceses, provinces and continents.

In Acts 2:42-47 we see the togetherness that defined the early church, a new call to biblical community. Certainly that community was a result of the ministry of Jesus and the community of the apostles, but God had already formed His people in the Old Testament, Genesis 12:2-7, and had shared His plan to establish Israel as a community set apart for His purposes, Exodus 19:5-6.

I have been blessed to hear the faithful prayers and prayer requests of the members of GSFA, to be reminded of their needs and to hear reports of their ministries. I have been blessed to hear testimonies of the Lord’s provision in places where I can no longer travel because of war, military dictatorships or dangerous outbreaks.

Sometimes a GSFA member will come to mind and I know the Lord is reminding me to pray for that person. Surely the Lord is reminding me because of a prayer request that was shared, prayers for folks across oceans and time zones, the body of Christ. I am certain that you have been reminded of requests also.

Do you think the early followers of Yahweh in Genesis or early Christians, described in the New Testament, knew how their faithfulness, their community, their witness would last and be passed around the world? I imagine that it was their hope and we are to be the faithful ones to carry that hope, that faith forward.

Thank you, Lord.
