Anglican Global South First Assembly Opens: Archbishop Justin Badi 'Welcomes Home' Orthodox Anglicans

The First Assembly of the Global South Fellowship of Anglican Churches (GSFA) opened with a joyful celebration of Holy Communion and a powerful keynote address from the Chairman, the Most Revd Dr Justin Badi, Primate of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan.

Archbishop Justin said that as the GSFA comes together for the first time under its new covenantal structure, “it becomes a home to all orthodox Anglicans within the Anglican Communion” but we gather in order to be sent so that “the nations will see and experience the salvation that only God can bring.” Those gathered included approximately 200 people from 40 countries.

The rest of the week will focus on developing GSFA’s commitment to developing activity tracks in Mission Partnership, Economic Empowerment and Ministry, and Leadership Formation in collaboration with a growing number of Mission Partner organisations and on electing office-bearers to lead the work of the GSFA.
