GSFA Missions Consultation Roundtable (MCR 01) Concludes in Cairo

Cairo, Egypt | 9th May 2025 — The Global South Fellowship of Anglicans (GSFA) has today successfully concluded its first Missions Consultation Roundtable (MCR 01), held from 6th to 9th May 2025 at All Saints Cathedral, Cairo, under the theme “Built Together for Mission” (Ephesians 2:22).

Hosted by The Most Rev. Samy Shehata, Archbishop of the Province of Alexandria, the gathering brought together mission leaders from across GSFA Provinces to reflect on current mission practices and strengthen collaborative strategies for global Gospel witness.

This Missions Conference follows the recently concluded Economic Empowerment Track held in Singapore earlier this year. The next Missions Consultation Roundtable is scheduled for October 2025 in Brazil, where delegates will interface with mission partners and explore potential collaborative projects.

Over the course of the consultation, participants shared impactful presentations highlighting the diverse mission work taking place in their respective Provinces. These insights are contributing to a foundational blueprint being developed by the Mission Partnerships Track to guide future mission collaboration and growth.

Rev. Dr. Timothy Chong, Chairman of the Mission Partnerships Track, noted the importance of fostering South-South, South-North, and East-West partnerships that energize the Church’s witness across borders.

“These four days have reminded us of the value of looking beyond our own Provinces—toward greater unity, shared learning, and impactful mission partnerships,” he said.

Rev. Canon Charles Raven, GSFA Development Secretary, led three Bible expositions on Ephesians 1 and 2, emphasizing the themes Chosen in Christ, Risen with Christ, and United in Christ. He urged participants to embrace God’s eternal purpose, live purposefully, and be shaped by the power and grace of the Gospel.

Throughout the consultation, recurring themes included the centrality of intentional discipleship, the need for stronger mission funding, and the call to equip the next generation for evangelism and service.

Provinces represented included South East Asia, the Indian Ocean, Sudan, Brazil, South Sudan, Congo, Alexandria, and Uganda.
