“PEACE I LEAVE WITH YOU; MY PEACE I GIVE UNTO YOU..” JOHN 14:27

Jesus promises his disciples inner peace as a farewell gift, distinguishing it from the temporary, external peace offered by the world. He commands them not to let their hearts be troubled or afraid, offering a lasting, divine calm that overcomes adversity and fear.

Peace is one of the deepest longings of the human heart. In a world filled with anxiety, conflict, and uncertainty, many people search for peace in wealth, relationships, or achievements.

Yet the Scriptures reveal that true peace comes only from God. This is a unique gift, it is his own inner tranquility and divine calm. This contrast to the world’s version, which is temporary, dependent of circumstances, or artificial.

Peace from a Biblical Perspective:

Peace is more than the absence of trouble. It is inner calm, assurance and harmony with God.

We also need peace within ourselves and peace with others.

Biblical peace is not merely the absence of conflict. It is a deep sense of security and trust that comes from knowing that God is in control. When Jesus spoke about peace, He was not promising a life without storms, but a heart that remains calm even in the midst of them.

In this world, we may have stress, family conflicts, fear about the future, and social tensions.

Many people live with restless hearts. The pressures of work, financial challenges, and family responsibilities can steal our peace. Sometimes we even carry hidden worries that no one else sees. Yet the promise of God is that His peace can guard our hearts even in difficult seasons.

One may ask, “How can I experience peace?” Here is some key advice:

  1. Peace comes through Trusting God

Peace grows when we trust God’s control over our lives. This means that, when we surrender our worries to God, we discover a peace that is stronger than fear. Trust allows us to rest in God’s promises rather than in our circumstances.

  1. Peace comes through Prayer

Prayer releases anxiety and invites God’s presence. When we bring our concerns before God in prayer, we exchange our burdens for His comfort. Prayer shifts our focus from problems to God’s power.

  1. Peace comes through Obedience

For instance, a heart that walks in obedience to God often experiences the calm assurance that comes from living in His Will.

Illustrative Reflection

A sailor once said that the safest place during a storm is not outside the waves but inside the harbour. In the same way, the peace of God becomes our harbour in the storms of life. When we draw near to God, we find shelter for our troubled hearts.

For this reasons, try to do the following:

  • Spend time in prayer daily

  • Read scripture during stressful moments

  • Forgive others

  • Trust God with uncertainties

Conclusion:

Today and always, choose to release every worry into God’s hands. Instead of allowing anxiety to dominate your mind, fill your heart with prayer and faith. The peace of God will begin to shape your thoughts and guide your actions.

PRAYER

Let us Pray:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Your peace. In moments of fear and uncertainty, help us to trust You more deeply. Calm our troubled hearts and fill our lives with the assurance of Your presence. Teach us to walk in faith and to reflect Your peace to others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
